July 19, 2016. (ONN) After much speculation about a Presidential bid of his own, former Minnesota Governor Jesse Ventura officially endorsed Libertarian Presidential nominee Gary Johnson. Both men are former Governors who served at the same time. They became friends after working together for years within America’s third party movement. Ventura confirmed last week that he will be voting for Johnson in November.

It should be no surprise that Jesse Ventura endorsed former New Mexico Governor Gary Johnson for President. He did the same thing four years ago. If that election is any indication, Johnson can count on a media blitz by Ventura in support of the Johnson campaign as well as the Libertarian Party.

Ventura was the Governor of Minnesota from 1999-2003. He was elected as the candidate of Ross Perot’s Reform Party prior to switching his affiliation to the Independence Party of Minnesota. In recent years, Ventura has periodically supported the Libertarian Party and its candidates.

Ventura endorses Johnson

Less than a week ago, CNBC.com published an op-ed article written by Jesse Ventura in which he confirms he is supporting and voting for Libertarian Presidential candidate Gary Johnson.

Ventura stated, “Ron Paul mentioned that he's probably going to vote Libertarian this year. He should. After all, he was their Presidential nominee back in 1988. Come November, I will join him, voting for Libertarian Presidential candidate Gary Johnson again, just like I did in 2012.”

The popular former politician and professional wrestler also spoke out against voting for the lesser of two evils. That’s always a widespread practice in America, but especially this election where two very unpopular candidates will be representing the two establishment parties.

Ventura said, “I've always had the belief that you vote for someone you believe in. When you cast your vote, you want that person to be president. You don't vote for one politician so that another doesn't become President. And yet here you have an instance where people don't want either the Democrat or Republican nominee as President! People are going to vote for Donald Trump because they don't want Hillary Clinton - and people are going to vote for Clinton because they don't want Trump. That's a horrible way to pick the next commander-in-chief.”

The former Minnesota Governor gave a few examples of why he supports his fellow former Governor Gary Johnson. Speaking of the Libertarian nominee, Ventura explained, “I like everything Gary Johnson has said so far. He's fiscally conservative and socially liberal – something neither Democrats nor Republicans can offer. He also has a solid plan for bringing our troops home and restoring our economy. And, like me, he's a firm believer that marijuana should be legal.”
