May 19, 2016. Harrisburg, PA (ONN) The Libertarian Party is currently seeking petition circulators in a handful of states where the ballot access requirements are nearly impossible. For example, in one of the states, Republicans and Democrats need to submit only a few hundred valid signatures to have their candidates appear on the November ballot. By comparison, Libertarians, Greens, independents and other opposition parties must submit over 40,000 signatures. The LP is paying up to $3 per signature.

An announcement two days ago from the Libertarian Party national office began, ‘Libertarians, we're hiring and paying $3 per signature in Illinois, $2.50 in Pennsylvania, $2.50 in Connecticut, and need volunteers in Ohio too, right away!’

Libertarian Party Executive Director Wes Benedict went on to explain, “I need to hire a lot more people ASAP, to collect ballot access petition signatures to get our candidate for President on the ballot in all 50 states. We're on the ballot in 32 states so far, and need to get on in 18 more. We're behind where we hoped to be at this point. Some states are easy, but 7 or so are very hard and expensive. Some states we can't start yet due to the rules there.”

The (4) states the Libertarian Party is currently hiring petition circulators for includes:

An appeal for help from the Libertarian Party of Illinois details, “In Illinois, candidates must collect petition signatures to get on voters’ ballots. Our statewide candidates will need 40,000 signatures to not only get on the ballot, but to stay there.”

The Libertarian Party of Pennsylvania warned, “Pennsylvania is the sixth-most populous state in the nation - worth a boatload of electoral votes. It is also a toss-up state, which means the Ds and Rs will be fighting ferociously for those electoral votes. The media will be focused on Pennsylvania. Our presidential candidate will get tons of media coverage - if we’re on the ballot!”

The announcement from the Connecticut Libertarian Party went on to say, “The Libertarian Party of Connecticut is engaged in a petition drive to place the Libertarian Party's Presidential candidate on the ballot in Connecticut!  This drive, requiring 7,500 valid signatures, is a large undertaking - but we know we can do it with your help!”
